9+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
410 AN ACT
511 relating to certain workers' compensation reporting requirements.
612 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
713 SECTION 1. Section 406.145(f), Labor Code, is amended to
814 read as follows:
915 (f) If a subsequent hiring agreement is made to which the
1016 joint agreement does not apply, the hiring contractor and
1117 independent contractor shall notify in writing:
1218 (1) [the division and] the hiring contractor's
1319 workers' compensation insurance carrier; and
1420 (2) the division, on the division's request [in
1521 writing].
1622 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1723 to a notification required to be provided on or after the effective
1824 date of this Act.
1925 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2026 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2127 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2228 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2329 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
