| 6 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 7 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 2302, Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 8 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 2302.009 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | Sec. 2302.009. APPLICABILITY OF CHAPTER TO CERTAIN GENERAL |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | DISTINGUISHING NUMBER HOLDERS. This chapter applies to the holder |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | of an independent motor vehicle dealer's general distinguishing |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | number issued under Chapter 503, Transportation Code, in the same |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | manner as this chapter applies to a salvage vehicle dealer if the |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | holder of the general distinguishing number: |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | (1) acts as a salvage vehicle dealer or rebuilder; or |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | (2) stores or displays a motor vehicle as an agent or |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | escrow agent of an insurance company. |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Section 2302.101, Occupations Code, is amended |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | Sec. 2302.101. LICENSE OR DEALER'S GENERAL DISTINGUISHING |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | NUMBER REQUIRED [FOR SALVAGE VEHICLE DEALER]. Unless a person |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | holds a salvage vehicle dealer license issued under this chapter or |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | an independent motor vehicle dealer's general distinguishing |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | number issued under Chapter 503, Transportation Code, the person |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | may not: |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | (1) act as a salvage vehicle dealer or rebuilder; or |
|---|
| 27 | 33 | | (2) store or display a motor vehicle as an agent or |
|---|

| 29 | 35 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
