9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 6.412, Tax Code, is amended by amending | |
11 | 11 | Subsection (e) and adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (e) Except as provided by Subsection (f), a [A] person who | |
13 | 13 | has served for all or part of three consecutive terms as a board | |
14 | 14 | member on an appraisal review board is ineligible to serve on the | |
15 | 15 | appraisal review board during a term that begins on the next January | |
16 | 16 | 1 following the third of those consecutive terms. | |
17 | 17 | (f) A person who has served for all or part of three | |
18 | 18 | consecutive terms as a board member on the appraisal review board of | |
19 | 19 | an appraisal district established in a county with a population of | |
20 | 20 | 550,000 or more is ineligible to serve on the appraisal review board | |
21 | 21 | during the two-year period that begins on the next January 1 | |
22 | 22 | following the third of those consecutive terms. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not | |
24 | 24 | affect the eligibility of a person serving on an appraisal review | |
25 | 25 | board immediately before the effective date of this Act to continue | |
26 | 26 | to serve on the board for the term to which the member was | |
27 | 27 | appointed. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2020. |
