97 relating to the facilitation of a funeral procession by a vehicle

119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. Chapter 546, Transportation Code, is amended by
1311 adding Subchapter D to read as follows:
1412 SUBCHAPTER D. FUNERAL ESCORT SERVICE VEHICLES
1513 Sec. 546.101. DEFINITION. In this subchapter, "funeral
1614 escort service" means a business that facilitates the movement of
1715 traffic for a funeral procession.
18- Sec. 546.102. FUNERAL ESCORT SERVICES. A local authority
19- shall allow a funeral escort service to facilitate the movement of
20- traffic for a funeral procession.
21- Sec. 546.103. OPERATOR TRAINING. A person may operate a
22- vehicle to facilitate the movement of a funeral procession for a
23- funeral escort service only if the person has successfully
24- completed a training program in traffic direction as defined by the
25- basic peace officer course curriculum established by the Texas
26- Commission on Law Enforcement.
27- Sec. 546.104. OPERATION OF FUNERAL ESCORT SERVICE VEHICLES.
16+ Sec. 546.102. LIMITATION ON LOCAL AUTHORITIES. A local
17+ authority may not prohibit a funeral escort service from
18+ facilitating the movement of traffic for a funeral procession.
19+ Sec. 546.103. OPERATION OF FUNERAL ESCORT SERVICE VEHICLES.
2820 An operator of a vehicle facilitating the movement of a funeral
2921 procession for a funeral escort service may proceed past a red or
3022 stop signal or stop sign, after slowing as necessary for safe
3123 operation.
