9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 521, Transportation Code, |
---|
11 | 11 | | is amended by adding Section 521.1015 to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 12 | | Sec. 521.1015. WAIVER OF FEES FOR FOSTER CARE AND HOMELESS |
---|
13 | 13 | | YOUTH. A person is exempt from the payment of any fee for the |
---|
14 | 14 | | issuance of a personal identification certificate, as provided |
---|
15 | 15 | | under this chapter, if that person is: |
---|
16 | 16 | | (1) younger than 18 years of age and in the managing |
---|
17 | 17 | | conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective |
---|
18 | 18 | | Services; |
---|
19 | 19 | | (2) at least 18 years of age, but younger than 21 years |
---|
20 | 20 | | of age, and resides in a foster care placement, the cost of which is |
---|
21 | 21 | | paid by the Department of Family and Protective Services; or |
---|
22 | 22 | | (3) a homeless child or youth, as defined by 42 U.S.C. |
---|
23 | 23 | | Section 11434a. |

24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Section 521.1811, Transportation Code, is |
---|
25 | 25 | | amended to read as follows: |

26 | 26 | | Sec. 521.1811. WAIVER OF FEES FOR FOSTER CARE AND HOMELESS |

27 | 27 | | YOUTH. A person is exempt from the payment of any fee for the |

28 | 28 | | issuance of a driver's license, as provided under this chapter, if |
