66 AN ACT
77 relating to the requirement that the State Board of Veterinary
88 Medical Examiners provide a copy of a complaint to the subject of
99 the complaint.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 801.207, Occupations Code, is amended by
1212 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1313 (b-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (b), the board shall
1414 provide a copy of each complaint to the license holder who is the
1515 subject of the complaint not later than the 14th day after the date
1616 the complaint is filed with the board, unless providing a copy of
1717 the complaint would jeopardize an investigation. The board may not
1818 require the license holder to request a copy of the complaint.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 801.207(b-1), Occupations Code, as added
2020 by this Act, applies only to a complaint filed with the State Board
2121 of Veterinary Medical Examiners on or after the effective date of
2222 this Act. A complaint filed with the board before the effective date
2323 of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the
2424 complaint was filed, and the former law is continued in effect for
2525 that purpose.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
