66 AN ACT
77 relating to acceptable forms of identification for voting.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 63.0101(a), Election Code, is amended to
1010 read as follows:
1111 (a) The following documentation is an acceptable form of
1212 photo identification under this chapter:
1313 (1) a driver's license, election identification
1414 certificate, or personal identification card issued to the person
1515 by the Department of Public Safety that has not expired or that
1616 expired no earlier than four years before the date of presentation;
1717 (2) a United States military identification card that
1818 contains the person's photograph that has not expired or that
1919 expired no earlier than four years before the date of presentation;
2020 (3) a United States citizenship certificate issued to
2121 the person that contains the person's photograph;
2222 (4) a United States passport book or card issued to the
2323 person that has not expired or that expired no earlier than four
2424 years before the date of presentation; [or]
2525 (5) a license to carry a handgun issued to the person
2626 by the Department of Public Safety that has not expired or that
2727 expired no earlier than four years before the date of presentation;
2828 or
2929 (6) an identification card issued by a public
3030 institution of higher education located in this state that contains
3131 the person's photograph.
3232 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
