9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 71.155(a-1), Business & Commerce Code, | |
11 | 11 | is amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (a-1) The county clerk may waive all fees under Subsection | |
13 | 13 | (a) for a registrant if the registrant is: | |
14 | 14 | (1) an individual who is a military veteran, as | |
15 | 15 | defined by Section 55.001, Occupations Code; or | |
16 | 16 | (2) a business entity that does not have more than five | |
17 | 17 | employees and is owned by at least one individual who is a military | |
18 | 18 | veteran. [In this subsection, "military veteran" has the meaning | |
19 | 19 | assigned by Section 55.001, Occupations Code.] | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
