9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 661, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 661.9075 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 661.9075. VOLUNTEERS OF TEXAS VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS | |
13 | 13 | ACTIVE IN DISASTER. (a) A state employee who is a volunteer of an | |
14 | 14 | organization that is a member of the Texas Voluntary Organizations | |
15 | 15 | Active in Disaster may be granted leave to participate in disaster | |
16 | 16 | relief services without a deduction in salary or loss of vacation | |
17 | 17 | time, sick leave, earned overtime credit, or state compensatory | |
18 | 18 | time if: | |
19 | 19 | (1) the leave is taken with the authorization of the | |
20 | 20 | employee's supervisor; and | |
21 | 21 | (2) the governor has declared a state of disaster | |
22 | 22 | under Chapter 418. | |
23 | 23 | (b) Leave granted to a state employee under Subsection (a) | |
24 | 24 | may not exceed 10 days each fiscal year. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. Section 661.907, Government Code, is repealed. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
