8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 16.401, Water Code, is amended to read as | |
10 | 10 | follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 16.401. STATEWIDE WATER CONSERVATION PUBLIC AWARENESS | |
12 | 12 | PROGRAM. (a) Using funds specifically appropriated for the | |
13 | 13 | purpose of the program or other funds available to the agency for | |
14 | 14 | that purpose, available federal funds, or other funds received as | |
15 | 15 | authorized by Subsection (b), the [The] executive administrator | |
16 | 16 | shall develop and implement a statewide water conservation public | |
17 | 17 | awareness program to educate residents of this state about water | |
18 | 18 | conservation. The program shall take into account the differences | |
19 | 19 | in water conservation needs of various geographic regions of the | |
20 | 20 | state and shall be designed to complement and support existing | |
21 | 21 | local and regional water conservation programs. | |
22 | 22 | (b) The executive administrator is authorized to accept | |
23 | 23 | grants and donations to develop and implement the program required | |
24 | 24 | by Subsection (a)[required to develop and implement the program | |
25 | 25 | required by Subsection (a) in a state fiscal biennium only if the | |
26 | 26 | legislature appropriates sufficient money in that biennium | |
27 | 27 | specifically for that purpose]. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
