9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 92, Property Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 92.0111 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 92.0111. METHODS OF PAYMENT OF RENT AND SECURITY | |
13 | 13 | DEPOSITS. A landlord shall permit a tenant to pay rent or a | |
14 | 14 | security deposit by at least one method of payment other than cash | |
15 | 15 | for which the landlord does not charge or collect a service charge. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. Section 92.0111, Property Code, as added by this | |
17 | 17 | Act, applies only to a lease entered into or renewed on or after the | |
18 | 18 | effective date of this Act. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
