11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 41, Education Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 41.0935 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 41.0935. REDUCTION FOR DISTRICT WITH HIGH ENROLLMENT | |
15 | 15 | OF EDUCATIONALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS. (a) This section applies | |
16 | 16 | only to a school district in which more than 40 percent of the | |
17 | 17 | enrolled students are educationally disadvantaged. | |
18 | 18 | (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a | |
19 | 19 | school district to which this section applies that executes an | |
20 | 20 | agreement to purchase all attendance credits necessary to reduce | |
21 | 21 | the district's wealth per student to the equalized wealth level may | |
22 | 22 | reduce the total amount required to be paid for attendance credits | |
23 | 23 | under Section 41.093 by a percentage equal to the amount by which | |
24 | 24 | the percentage of students enrolled in the district who are | |
25 | 25 | educationally disadvantaged exceeds 40 percent. | |
26 | 26 | (c) A reduction under Subsection (b) shall be made after | |
27 | 27 | making any reduction to which the district is entitled under | |
28 | 28 | Section 41.0931, 41.097, or 41.098 or another provision of this | |
29 | 29 | chapter. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
