| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 6.035, Tax Code, is amended by adding | |
| 11 | 11 | Subsection (a-2) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a-2) An individual is ineligible to serve on an appraisal | |
| 13 | 13 | district board of directors if the individual is or has ever been | |
| 14 | 14 | employed by the appraisal district governed by the board. | |
| 15 | 15 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not | |
| 16 | 16 | affect the eligibility of a person serving as an appointed member of | |
| 17 | 17 | the board of directors of an appraisal district immediately before | |
| 18 | 18 | the effective date of this Act to continue to serve on the board for | |
| 19 | 19 | the remainder of the term to which the member was appointed. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
