55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to registration of a motor vehicle alleged to have been
88 involved in a violation detected by a photographic traffic signal
99 enforcement system.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 707.017, Transportation Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 707.017. REGISTRATION AFTER CIVIL PENALTY IMPOSED
1414 [ENFORCEMENT]. Neither the [(a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is
1515 delinquent in the payment of a civil penalty imposed under this
1616 chapter, the] county assessor-collector nor [or] the Texas
1717 Department of Motor Vehicles may refuse to register a motor vehicle
1818 alleged to have been involved in a [the] violation of this chapter
1919 solely because the owner of the motor vehicle is delinquent in the
2020 payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter.
2121 [(b) This section does not apply to the registration of a
2222 motor vehicle under Section 501.0234.]
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
