| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 531.0993, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (j) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, | |
| 14 | 14 | the commission may award a grant under this section for the state | |
| 15 | 15 | fiscal year beginning on September 1, 2019, only to a community | |
| 16 | 16 | collaborative in a county with a population of 555,000 or more that | |
| 17 | 17 | is adjacent to a county with a population of 3.3 million or more. | |
| 18 | 18 | This subsection expires August 31, 2020. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
