11+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
412 AN ACT
513 relating to permitting certain foster homes to store firearms and
614 ammunition in the same locked location.
715 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
816 SECTION 1. Section 42.042(e-1), Human Resources Code, is
917 amended to read as follows:
1018 (e-1) The commission [department] may not prohibit
1119 possession of lawfully permitted firearms and ammunition in an
1220 agency foster home. Minimum standards may be adopted under this
1321 section relating to safety and proper storage of firearms and
1422 ammunition. The minimum standards must allow [, including
1523 standards requiring] firearms and ammunition to be stored
1624 separately or stored together in the same locked location if the
1725 firearms are stored with a trigger locking device attached to the
1826 firearms [locations].
1927 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
