76 AN ACT
87 relating to permitting a hunter education component as part of a
98 school district's physical education curriculum offered to certain
109 students.
1110 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1211 SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by
1312 adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
1413 (d-1) The State Board of Education, in consultation with the
1514 Parks and Wildlife Department, shall develop a hunter education
1615 course for students in grades 7 through 12 that a school district
1716 may use in the district's physical education curriculum under
1817 Subsection (a)(2)(C).
1918 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
2019 school year.
2120 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2221 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2322 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2423 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2524 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
