| 11 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 13 | 12 | | adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 13 | | (d-1) The State Board of Education, in consultation with the |
|---|
| 15 | 14 | | Parks and Wildlife Department, shall develop a hunter education |
|---|
| 16 | 15 | | course for students in grades 7 through 12 that a school district |
|---|
| 17 | 16 | | may use in the district's physical education curriculum under |
|---|
| 18 | 17 | | Subsection (a)(2)(C). |
|---|
| 19 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 |
|---|
| 20 | 19 | | school year. |
|---|
| 21 | 20 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 22 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 23 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 24 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 25 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
