55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 436.105(d), Government Code, is amended
1010 to read as follows:
1111 (d) The task force is abolished and this section expires
1212 September 1, 2023 [2021].
1313 SECTION 2. Section 436.205(b), Government Code, is amended
1414 to read as follows:
1515 (b) The panel shall evaluate each grant application and
1616 assign the applicant a score based on:
1717 (1) the significance of the adverse or positive effect
1818 within the local governmental entity[, including the number of jobs
1919 that may be lost or gained in relation to the workforce in the local
2020 governmental entity's jurisdiction and the effect on the entity's
2121 and surrounding area's economy and tax revenue]; and
2222 (2) any other criteria established by the commission
2323 [the extent to which the local governmental entity may have used its
2424 existing resources to promote local economic development;
2525 [(3) the amount of any grant that the local
2626 governmental entity has previously received under this subchapter;
2727 [(4) the anticipated number of jobs that may be
2828 created or retained in relation to the amount of the grant sought;
2929 and
3030 [(5) the extent to which the grant will affect the
3131 region in which the local governmental entity is located].
3232 SECTION 3. Section 436.207, Government Code, is repealed.
3333 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
