| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 4.003(e), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (e) The authority responsible for giving notice of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | election shall deliver to the secretary of state: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) a copy of the notice of a consolidated precinct |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | required by Subsection (b) not later than the date of the election; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) information for the secretary of state's database |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of election information under Section 31.017 in an electronic |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | format required by the secretary of state. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 31, Election Code, is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | amended by adding Section 31.017 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Sec. 31.017. INTERNET DATABASE OF ELECTION INFORMATION. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (a) The secretary of state shall post on the secretary of state's |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | public Internet website a database containing information provided |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | by each authority responsible for giving notice of an election in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | this state. The database must include the following information: |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (1) the name of the authority; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) each office to be filled at the election; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (3) whether the office is elected at large or by |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | district; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (4) the dates of the preceding and next election for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | the office. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (b) The secretary of state: |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (1) may solicit and accept gifts, grants, and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | donations from any public or private source for the creation and |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | maintenance of the database; and |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (2) shall adopt rules as necessary to implement this |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | section. |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
