| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 451.071(f), Transportation Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (f) A referendum on a proposal to expand a system approved | |
| 13 | 13 | under this section is required only if [may be held on any date | |
| 14 | 14 | specified in Section 41.001, Election Code, or a date chosen by | |
| 15 | 15 | order of the board of the authority, provided that: | |
| 16 | 16 | [(1) the referendum is held no earlier than the 62nd | |
| 17 | 17 | day after the date of the order; and | |
| 18 | 18 | [(2)] the proposed expansion involves the addition of | |
| 19 | 19 | [not] more than 15 [12] miles of track to the system. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
