| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 141.034(a), Election Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) An application for a place on the ballot may not be | |
| 13 | 13 | challenged for compliance with the applicable requirements as to | |
| 14 | 14 | form, content, and procedure after the 50th day before [any ballot | |
| 15 | 15 | to be voted early by mail is mailed to an address in the authority's | |
| 16 | 16 | jurisdiction for] the date of the election for which the | |
| 17 | 17 | application is made. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 19 | 19 | to an application filed under Subchapter B, Chapter 141, Election | |
| 20 | 20 | Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. An application | |
| 21 | 21 | filed before the effective date of this Act is subject to the law in | |
| 22 | 22 | effect at the time the report was filed, and the former law is | |
| 23 | 23 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
