| 9 | 9 | | retirement benefits and financial literacy. |

| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 8, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 8.059 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 8.059. INFORMATION REGARDING EMPLOYEE BENEFITS. Each |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | regional education service center, in cooperation with the Teacher |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Retirement System of Texas, shall annually collaborate with school |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | districts in the center's region to: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) organize an educational workshop to provide |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | information to district employees regarding: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (A) health benefits for district employees and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | retirees, including: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (i) benefits provided by each district; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (ii) health benefit plans administered by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Teacher Retirement System of Texas; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (B) retirement benefits, including benefits |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (C) personal financial literacy regarding health |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | care and retirement planning; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (2) distribute the information described by |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Subdivision (1) to the district employees. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
