55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a report by the Department of Public Safety of certain
88 information on border crime and other criminal activity related to
99 border security.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 411.055 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 411.055. ANNUAL REPORT ON BORDER CRIME AND OTHER
1414 CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. (a) Not later than January 30 of each year, the
1515 department shall submit to the legislature a report on border crime
1616 and other criminal activity. The report must include:
1717 (1) statistics for each month of the preceding year
1818 and yearly totals of all border crime, as defined by Section
1919 772.0071, and other criminal activity the department determines
2020 relates to border security that occurred in each county included in
2121 a department region that is adjacent to the Texas-Mexico border;
2222 and
2323 (2) statewide crime statistics for the crimes reported
2424 under Subdivision (1).
2525 (b) In compiling the information for the report, the
2626 department shall use information available in the National
2727 Incident-Based Reporting System of the Uniform Crime Reporting
2828 Program of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Texas
2929 Incident-Based Reporting System of the department.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
