10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 411.055 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 411.055. ANNUAL REPORT ON BORDER CRIME AND OTHER | |
14 | 14 | CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. (a) Not later than January 30 of each year, the | |
15 | 15 | department shall submit to the legislature a report on border crime | |
16 | 16 | and other criminal activity. The report must include: | |
17 | 17 | (1) statistics for each month of the preceding year | |
18 | 18 | and yearly totals of all border crime, as defined by Section | |
19 | 19 | 772.0071, and other criminal activity the department determines | |
20 | 20 | relates to border security that occurred in each county included in | |
21 | 21 | a department region that is adjacent to the Texas-Mexico border; | |
22 | 22 | and | |
23 | 23 | (2) statewide crime statistics for the crimes reported | |
24 | 24 | under Subdivision (1). | |
25 | 25 | (b) In compiling the information for the report, the | |
26 | 26 | department shall use information available in the National | |
27 | 27 | Incident-Based Reporting System of the Uniform Crime Reporting | |
28 | 28 | Program of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Texas | |
29 | 29 | Incident-Based Reporting System of the department. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
