| 7 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Section 1603.252(a), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 16 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 17 | | (a) The department may accept, approve, develop, or |
|---|
| 11 | 18 | | contract for the examinations required by this chapter, including |
|---|
| 12 | 19 | | the administration of the examinations. |
|---|
| 13 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Section 1603.256(c), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 14 | 21 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 22 | | (c) The following persons may administer a practical |
|---|
| 16 | 23 | | examination required under this subchapter: |
|---|
| 17 | 24 | | (1) the department; [or] |
|---|
| 18 | 25 | | (2) a person with whom the department contracts under |
|---|
| 19 | 26 | | Section 1603.252; or |
|---|
| 20 | 27 | | (3) a barber school, private beauty culture school, or |
|---|
| 21 | 28 | | a public secondary or postsecondary beauty culture school that is |
|---|
| 22 | 29 | | approved by the department to administer the examination under |
|---|
| 23 | 30 | | Section 1603.252. |
|---|
| 24 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
