79 relating to the provision of services by the Texas Department of
810 Criminal Justice's developmentally disabled offender program.
911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 501.069, Government Code,
1113 is amended to read as follows:
1214 Sec. 501.069. OFFENDERS WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL
1315 DISABILITIES [DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED OFFENDER] PROGRAM.
1416 SECTION 2. Section 501.069, Government Code, is amended by
1517 adding Subsections (c-1), (c-2), and (e) and amending Subsection
1618 (d) to read as follows:
1719 (c-1) The department shall develop and identify community
1820 resources to assist an offender described by Subsection (b) in
1921 successfully reentering and reintegrating into the community.
2022 (c-2) The department shall develop and implement a reentry
2123 and reintegration plan that is person centered and based on the
2224 individual needs of an offender described by Subsection (b). The
2325 plan may include the coordination of treatment, identification of
2426 housing assistance, and delivery of other transitional services.
2527 (d) The department may accept gifts, awards, or grants for
2628 the purpose of providing the services described by this section
2729 [Subsection (b)].
2830 (e) Funds appropriated to the department may not be expended
2931 to provide residential housing assistance to an offender described
3032 by Subsection (b) who is serving a sentence for an offense listed in
3133 Section 508.149(a).
3234 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
