| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 39.9031 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 39.9031. NOTICE OF ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS. (a) A retail | |
| 13 | 13 | electric provider, municipally owned utility, or electric | |
| 14 | 14 | cooperative that provided reduced rates to customers using support | |
| 15 | 15 | from the former system benefit fund shall include with a notice of | |
| 16 | 16 | disconnection for nonpayment sent to a customer who received a | |
| 17 | 17 | reduced rate a statement describing payment assistance, | |
| 18 | 18 | alternative payment arrangements, deferred payment plans, or other | |
| 19 | 19 | payment plan options offered by the provider, utility, or | |
| 20 | 20 | cooperative. | |
| 21 | 21 | (b) This section expires September 1, 2021. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
