| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 501.0234(d), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (d) A seller who applies for the registration of or a title |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for a motor vehicle under Subsection (a)(1) shall apply in: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) the county in which the motor vehicle is |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | purchased; or |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) a county described by Section 501.023(a) that is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | agreed upon by the seller and purchaser [as directed by the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | purchaser from the counties set forth in Section 501.023]. |

| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Section 501.0234(e), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | repealed. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 3. The changes in a law made by this Act apply to an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | application for the registration of or a title for a motor vehicle |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | purchased on or after the effective date of this Act. An |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | application for the registration of or a title for a motor vehicle |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | purchased before the effective date of this Act is governed by the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | law in effect when the vehicle was purchased, and the former law is |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
