4	10		AN ACT
5	11		relating to the use of certain license plates on classic motor
6	12		vehicles and travel trailers, custom vehicles, street rods, and
7	13		certain exhibition vehicles.
8	14		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
9	15		SECTION 1. Section 504.202, Transportation Code, is amended
10	16		by adding Subsection (j) to read as follows:
11	17		(j) A person entitled to license plates under this section
12	18		may instead use, for a vehicle that meets the requirements of
13	19		Section 504.501 or 504.502, disabled veteran license plates issued
14	20		by this state that are:
15	21		(1) embossed with an alphanumeric pattern;
16	22		(2) of a plate design that was issued in the same year
17	23		as the model year of the vehicle; and
18	24		(3) approved for use by the department.
19	25		SECTION 2. Section 504.501, Transportation Code, is amended
20	26		by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1) to read as
21	27		follows:
22	28		(b) A person eligible for the license plates may instead use
23	29		license plates that are:
24	30		(1) embossed with an alphanumeric pattern;
25	31		(2) of a plate design that was [were] issued by this
26	32		state in the same year as the model year of the vehicle; and
27	33		(3) [are] approved for use by the department.
28	34		(b-1) The department may require the attachment of a
29	35		registration insignia to a [the] license plate described by
30	36		Subsection (b) in a manner that does not affect the display of
31	37		information originally on the license plate.
32	38		SECTION 3. Section 504.502, Transportation Code, is amended
33	39		by amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (c-1) to read as
34	40		follows:
35	41		(c) A person eligible for the license plates may instead use
36	42		license plates that are:
37	43		(1) embossed with an alphanumeric pattern;
38	44		(2) of a plate design that was issued by this state in
39	45		the same year as the model year of the vehicle [and approved by the
40	46		department], provided that a passenger car must bear passenger car
41	47		or truck license plates and a truck must bear passenger car or truck
42	48		license plates; and
43	49		(3) approved for use by the department.
44	50		(c-1) The department may require attachment of a
45	51		registration insignia to a [the] license plate described by
46	52		Subsection (c) in a manner that does not affect the display of
47	53		information originally on the license plate.
48	54		SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
