119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
12- SECTION 1. Chapter 83, Family Code, is amended by adding
13- Section 83.0015 to read as follows:
14- Sec. 83.0015. SERVICE OF NOTICE OF TEMPORARY EX PARTE
15- ORDER. Notice of a temporary ex parte order issued under this
16- chapter must be served personally on the respondent.
17- SECTION 2. Section 83.0015, Family Code, as added by this
18- Act, applies only to a temporary ex parte protective order issued
19- under Chapter 83, Family Code, on or after the effective date of
20- this Act. A temporary ex parte protective order issued under
21- Chapter 83, Family Code, before the effective date of this Act is
22- governed by the law in effect immediately before that date, and the
23- former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
10+ SECTION 1. Section 82.043(c), Family Code, is amended to
11+ read as follows:
12+ (c) Notice of an application for a protective order must be
13+ served on the person [in the same manner as citation under the Texas
14+ Rules of Civil Procedure, except that service by publication is not
15+ authorized].
16+ SECTION 2. Section 82.043, Family Code, as amended by this
17+ Act, applies only to a notice of an application for a protective
18+ order served on or after the effective date of this Act. An
19+ application for a protective order served before the effective date
20+ of this Act is governed by the law in effect immediately before that
21+ date, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
