11 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | |
13 | 11 | amended by adding Section 411.210 to read as follows: | |
14 | 12 | Sec. 411.210. FIREARM SAFETY AND SUICIDE PREVENTION PUBLIC | |
15 | - | AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. (a) The department, in conjunction with the | |
16 | - | Department of State Health Services, the Parks and Wildlife | |
17 | - | Department, and other appropriate agencies, shall develop and | |

23 | 19 | (3) the safe handling and storage of firearms. | |
24 | 20 | (b) In implementing the campaign, the department may engage | |
25 | 21 | in online advocacy, issue public service announcements, and | |
26 | 22 | distribute materials that cover the topics described by Subsection | |
27 | - | (a). The department may publish its own materials on those topics | |
28 | - | or may distribute materials published by firearm safety education | |
29 | - | programs that seek to encourage firearm owners to embrace the | |
30 | - | importance of firearm storage. | |
31 | - | (c) The department may pay the costs of the campaign and its | |
