9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 521.1811, Transportation Code, is | |
11 | 11 | transferred to Subchapter R, Chapter 521, Transportation Code, | |
12 | 12 | renumbered as Section 521.4261, Transportation Code, and amended to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 521.4261 [521.1811]. WAIVER OF FEES FOR FOSTER CARE | |
15 | 15 | YOUTH. A person is exempt from the payment of any fee for the | |
16 | 16 | issuance of a driver's license or personal identification | |
17 | 17 | certificate, as provided under this chapter, if that person is: | |
18 | 18 | (1) younger than 18 years of age and in the managing | |
19 | 19 | conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective | |
20 | 20 | Services; or | |
21 | 21 | (2) at least 18 years of age, but younger than 21 years | |
22 | 22 | of age, and resides in a foster care placement, the cost of which is | |
23 | 23 | paid by the Department of Family and Protective Services. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
