55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to an exemption for a foster child from the payment of a
88 fee for the issuance of a personal identification certificate.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 521.1811, Transportation Code, is
1111 transferred to Subchapter R, Chapter 521, Transportation Code,
1212 renumbered as Section 521.4261, Transportation Code, and amended to
1313 read as follows:
1414 Sec. 521.4261 [521.1811]. WAIVER OF FEES FOR FOSTER CARE
1515 YOUTH. A person is exempt from the payment of any fee for the
1616 issuance of a driver's license or personal identification
1717 certificate, as provided under this chapter, if that person is:
1818 (1) younger than 18 years of age and in the managing
1919 conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective
2020 Services; or
2121 (2) at least 18 years of age, but younger than 21 years
2222 of age, and resides in a foster care placement, the cost of which is
2323 paid by the Department of Family and Protective Services.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
