68 AN ACT
79 relating to a study by the Texas Water Development Board of
810 groundwater conditions in certain counties.
911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. In order to engage in a scientific inquiry and
1113 analysis regarding current and projected groundwater production
1214 and to assess the effects of that production on groundwater
1315 conditions, the executive administrator of the Texas Water
1416 Development Board shall, for the Trinity and Edwards Aquifers north
1517 of the Colorado River in Bell, Burnet, Milam, Travis, and
1618 Williamson Counties:
1719 (1) compile and evaluate current data on groundwater
1820 levels, aquifer characteristics, and groundwater use and
1921 production; and
2022 (2) fully assess the effects of current and projected
2123 groundwater production on groundwater conditions.
2224 SECTION 2. Not later than September 1, 2020, the executive
2325 administrator of the Texas Water Development Board shall:
2426 (1) complete the compilation, evaluation, and
2527 assessment of data described by Section 1 of this Act;
2628 (2) prepare a report of the findings of the
2729 compilation, evaluation, and assessment; and
2830 (3) make copies of the report available to the public.
2931 SECTION 3. This Act expires September 1, 2021.
3032 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3133 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3234 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3335 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3436 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
