6	8		AN ACT
7	9		relating to a study by the Texas Water Development Board of
8	10		groundwater conditions in certain counties.
9	11		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
10	12		SECTION 1. In order to engage in a scientific inquiry and
11	13		analysis regarding current and projected groundwater production
12	14		and to assess the effects of that production on groundwater
13	15		conditions, the executive administrator of the Texas Water
14	16		Development Board shall, for the Trinity and Edwards Aquifers north
15	17		of the Colorado River in Bell, Burnet, Milam, Travis, and
16	18		Williamson Counties:
17	19		(1) compile and evaluate current data on groundwater
18	20		levels, aquifer characteristics, and groundwater use and
19	21		production; and
20	22		(2) fully assess the effects of current and projected
21	23		groundwater production on groundwater conditions.
22	24		SECTION 2. Not later than September 1, 2020, the executive
23	25		administrator of the Texas Water Development Board shall:
24	26		(1) complete the compilation, evaluation, and
25	27		assessment of data described by Section 1 of this Act;
26	28		(2) prepare a report of the findings of the
27	29		compilation, evaluation, and assessment; and
28	30		(3) make copies of the report available to the public.
29	31		SECTION 3. This Act expires September 1, 2021.
30	32		SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
31	33		a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
32	34		provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
33	35		Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
34	36		Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
