27 | | - | (1) the department; and |
---|
28 | | - | (2) the Department of Public Safety of the State of |
---|
29 | | - | Texas. |

30 | | - | SECTION 2. Section 12.094(a), Health and Safety Code, is |
---|
31 | | - | amended to read as follows: |
---|
32 | | - | (a) The executive commissioner: |
---|
33 | | - | (1) shall [may] adopt rules to govern the activities |
---|
34 | | - | of the medical advisory board; |
---|
35 | | - | (2) shall annually appoint from among the members a |
---|
36 | | - | chair and a vice chair of the medical advisory board; |
---|
37 | | - | (3) shall annually review the medical advisory board's |
---|
38 | | - | rules and internal procedures; |
---|
39 | | - | (4) by rule may establish a reasonable fee to pay a |
---|
40 | | - | member of the medical advisory board for the member's professional |
---|
41 | | - | consultation services; and |
---|
42 | | - | (5) [(3)] if appropriate, may authorize reimbursement |
---|
43 | | - | for travel expenses as provided by Section 2110.004, Government |
---|
44 | | - | Code, for each meeting a member attends. |
---|
45 | | - | SECTION 3. Section 12.095, Health and Safety Code, is |
---|
46 | | - | amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
---|
47 | | - | (b-1) At least one member of a panel must have medical |
---|
48 | | - | expertise relating to the medical condition of the applicant or |
---|
49 | | - | license holder whose application or license is being considered by |
---|
50 | | - | the panel. |
---|
51 | | - | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
