8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 64.009, Election Code, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (e) At each polling place a parking space shall be reserved | |
12 | 12 | for voting under this section. The space may not be a parking space | |
13 | 13 | designated specifically for persons with disabilities. The parking | |
14 | 14 | space must be clearly marked for use by a voter who is unable to | |
15 | 15 | enter the polling place with a sign. The sign must have a telephone | |
16 | 16 | number for a voter to request assistance from election officials at | |
17 | 17 | the polling place. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. Section 104.004(e), Election Code, is amended to | |
19 | 19 | read as follows: | |
20 | 20 | (e) If the voter is physically unable to enter the early | |
21 | 21 | voting polling place without personal assistance or a likelihood of | |
22 | 22 | injuring the voter's health, the clerk shall deliver the balloting | |
23 | 23 | materials to the voter at the polling place entrance or curb | |
24 | 24 | following the procedures prescribed by Section 64.009. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
26 | 26 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
27 | 27 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
28 | 28 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
29 | 29 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
