9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, |
---|
11 | 11 | | is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 12 | | Sec. 40.0327. NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a) |
---|
13 | 13 | | The department shall designate a department employee as the |
---|
14 | 14 | | nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between |
---|
15 | 15 | | the department and nonprofit agencies that provide assistance to |
---|
16 | 16 | | families in crisis. |
---|
17 | 17 | | (b) The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist |
---|
18 | 18 | | nonprofit agencies in providing services and resources to families |
---|
19 | 19 | | in crisis, including: |
---|
20 | 20 | | (1) temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a |
---|
21 | 21 | | caregiver; |
---|
22 | 22 | | (2) transportation, meals, babysitting services, and |
---|
23 | 23 | | other support services; |
---|
24 | 24 | | (3) furniture, clothing, and other household items; |
---|
25 | 25 | | (4) parenting education training; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | (5) mentoring programs, including programs for young |
---|
27 | 27 | | adults aging out of foster care. |
---|
28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
