| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 66, Parks and Wildlife | |
| 10 | 10 | Code, is amended by adding Section 66.116 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 66.116. BOW FISHING. (a) In this section, "bow | |
| 12 | 12 | fishing" means fishing by use of archery equipment, including a | |
| 13 | 13 | longbow, recurved bow, compound bow, or crossbow. | |
| 14 | 14 | (b) A person holding the required fishing license and | |
| 15 | 15 | freshwater fishing stamp issued to the person by the department may | |
| 16 | 16 | engage in bow fishing for catfish in the public fresh water of this | |
| 17 | 17 | state. | |
| 18 | 18 | (c) The commission may adopt rules related to bow fishing. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
