79 relating to the salary paid to an official court reporter in certain
810 counties.
911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. Section 52.051(d), Government Code, is amended
1113 to read as follows:
1214 (d) The official district court reporter may not receive:
1315 (1) a salary that is more than 10 percent greater than
1416 the salary received during the preceding budget year without the
1517 approval of the commissioners court of each county in the judicial
1618 district if the court reporter serves in a county with a population
1719 of less than 1 million; [or]
1820 (2) except as provided by Subdivision (3), a
1921 percentage increase in salary in a fiscal year that is greater than
2022 the average percentage increase in compensation in that fiscal year
2123 to all other employees of the county in which the reporter serves if
2224 the court reporter serves in a county with a population of 1 million
2325 or more; or
2426 (3) a percentage increase in salary in a fiscal year
2527 that is greater than the average percentage increase in
2628 compensation in that fiscal year to all other employees of the
2729 county in which the reporter serves if the court reporter serves in
2830 a county with a population of 3.5 million or more, unless approved
2931 by the commissioners court.
3032 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
