| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 418.005, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 10 | 10 | adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (c-1) The training courses developed under Subsection (c) | |
| 12 | 12 | must include information on using the 9-1-1 system, as defined by | |
| 13 | 13 | Section 772.001, Health and Safety Code, and Internet websites, | |
| 14 | 14 | including social media websites, for communicating effectively | |
| 15 | 15 | with the public during and after a disaster. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | |
| 17 | 17 | of this Act, the Texas Division of Emergency Management shall amend | |
| 18 | 18 | the training courses developed under Section 418.005, Government | |
| 19 | 19 | Code, to comply with Section 418.005(c-1), Government Code, as | |
| 20 | 20 | added by this Act. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
