77 relating to the time certain licensed child-care facilities may
88 detain unaccompanied children.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 42, Human Resources Code,
1111 is amended by adding Section 42.0538 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 42.0538. DETENTION OF CERTAIN CHILDREN. A licensed
1313 child-care facility that is operated by or under a contract with
1414 United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the Office of
1515 Refugee Resettlement to enforce federal immigration laws may not
1616 detain for more than 20 days a child who is not accompanied by or in
1717 the physical custody of a parent, guardian, or other adult family
1818 member.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
