| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 42, Human Resources Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 42.0538 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 42.0538. DETENTION OF CERTAIN CHILDREN. A licensed | |
| 13 | 13 | child-care facility that is operated by or under a contract with | |
| 14 | 14 | United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the Office of | |
| 15 | 15 | Refugee Resettlement to enforce federal immigration laws may not | |
| 16 | 16 | detain for more than 20 days a child who is not accompanied by or in | |
| 17 | 17 | the physical custody of a parent, guardian, or other adult family | |
| 18 | 18 | member. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
