66 AN ACT
77 relating to authorizing counties to adopt a code of ethics for their
88 commissioners courts.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 170, Local Government Code, is amended
1111 by adding Section 170.002 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 170.002. CODE OF ETHICS FOR COMMISSIONERS COURT. The
1313 commissioners court of a county may adopt by order a code of ethics
1414 that provides standards of conduct for members of the commissioners
1515 court. If a commissioners court adopts a code of ethics under this
1616 section, the code of ethics must require each member of the
1717 commissioners court to file a conflicts disclosure statement that
1818 is in addition to the statement required by Section 176.003.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
