| 6 | 6 | | relating to the removal from office of a public officer of a |

| 7 | 7 | | political subdivision for policies or actions regarding |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | immigration enforcement. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 752.0565, Government Code, is repealed. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 2. A civil action to remove a public officer from |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | office under Section 752.0565, Government Code, for a violation of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Section 752.053, Government Code, that occurred before the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | effective date of this Act may not be initiated after the effective |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | date of this Act. If on the effective date of this Act, a civil |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | action is pending under Section 752.0565, Government Code, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | action is dismissed on that date. However, a final adjudication for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the removal of a public officer from office under Section 752.0565, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Government Code, that exists on the effective date of this Act is |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | unaffected by this Act. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
