66 AN ACT
77 relating to the use of a priority groundwater management area study
88 in certain areas.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 35, Water Code, is amended by adding
1111 Section 35.0075 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 35.0075. PRIORITY GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT AREA STUDY IN
1313 CERTAIN AREAS. (a) This section applies to a county:
1414 (1) bordering the Rio Grande;
1515 (2) overlying the Edwards-Trinity Aquifer; and
1616 (3) with a population greater than 40,000.
1717 (b) For a groundwater conservation district created in a
1818 county to which this section applies, the board shall use the
1919 priority groundwater management area study to set the modeled
2020 available groundwater and the district shall use the priority
2121 groundwater management area study to set the desired future
2222 condition according to the provisions of Chapter 36.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
