7 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 408.025(a-1), Labor Code, is amended to | |
9 | 15 | read as follows: | |
10 | 16 | (a-1) A treating doctor may delegate to a physician | |
11 | 17 | assistant who is licensed to practice in this state under Chapter | |
12 | 18 | 204, Occupations Code, or an advanced practice registered nurse who | |
13 | 19 | is licensed to practice in this state under Chapter 301, | |
14 | 20 | Occupations Code, the authority to complete and sign a work status | |
15 | 21 | report regarding an injured employee's ability to return to | |
16 | 22 | work. The delegating treating doctor is responsible for the acts | |
17 | 23 | of the physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse | |
18 | 24 | under this subsection. | |
19 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | |
