9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 43.0115(a), Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (a) This section applies only to a municipality that: | |
13 | 13 | (1) is wholly or partly located in a county in which a | |
14 | 14 | majority of the population of two or more municipalities, each with | |
15 | 15 | a population of 225,000 [300,000] or more, are located; and | |
16 | 16 | (2) proposes to annex an area that: | |
17 | 17 | (A) is wholly surrounded by a municipality and | |
18 | 18 | within the municipality's extraterritorial jurisdiction; and | |
19 | 19 | (B) has fewer than 100 dwelling units. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
