86 AN ACT
97 relating to the location of countywide polling places within a
108 county.
119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. Section 43.007(m), Election Code, is amended to
1311 read as follows:
1412 (m) In adopting a methodology under Subsection (f), the
1513 county must ensure that:
16- (1) in a county with a population of less than one
17- million, each county commissioners precinct contains at least one
18- countywide polling place and the percentage of the total number of
19- countywide polling places located in each commissioners precinct
20- must be as equal as mathematically possible to the percentage of
21- registered voters of the county whose registrations are effective
22- on the date of the election residing in each commissioners
23- precinct; or [and]
24- (2) in a county with a population of one million or
25- more, the percentage of the total number of countywide polling
26- places located in each state representative district in the county
14+ (1) each county commissioners precinct contains at
15+ least one countywide polling place and the percentage of the total
16+ number of countywide polling places located in each commissioners
17+ precinct must be as equal as mathematically possible to the
18+ percentage of registered voters of the county whose registrations

22+ the percentage of the total number of countywide polling places
23+ located in each state representative district in the county
2724 containing territory in which the election is held must be as equal
2825 as mathematically possible to the percentage of registered voters
2926 of the county whose registrations are effective on the date of the
3027 election residing in each state representative district [the total
3128 number of permanent branch and temporary branch polling places open
3229 for voting in a county commissioners precinct does not exceed more
3330 than twice the number of permanent branch and temporary branch
3431 polling places in another county commissioners precinct].
3532 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
