| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. STUDY REGARDING MIGRANT LABOR HOUSING | |
| 10 | 10 | FACILITIES. (a) The Texas Department of Housing and Community | |
| 11 | 11 | Affairs shall conduct a study evaluating the quantity, quality, and | |
| 12 | 12 | availability of, and the needs associated with, migrant labor | |
| 13 | 13 | housing facilities as defined by Section 2306.921, Government Code, | |
| 14 | 14 | in this state. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) Not later than September 1, 2020, the Texas Department | |
| 16 | 16 | of Housing and Community Affairs shall submit a written report to | |
| 17 | 17 | the legislature containing: | |
| 18 | 18 | (1) the findings of the study conducted under | |
| 19 | 19 | Subsection (a) of this section; | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) recommendations for appropriate actions based on | |
| 21 | 21 | the findings of the study, including any necessary legislative | |
| 22 | 22 | changes; and | |
| 23 | 23 | (3) a timeline for implementing the recommendations | |
| 24 | 24 | made under Subdivision (2) of this subsection. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | |
| 26 | 26 | 1, 2019. |
