7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 92, Property Code, is | |
9 | 9 | amended by adding Section 92.3516 to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | Sec. 92.3516. REQUIREMENT OF TENANT LIABILITY INSURANCE. A | |
11 | 11 | landlord shall require a tenant to obtain or maintain during the | |
12 | 12 | lease term liability insurance in an amount not less than $100,000 | |
13 | 13 | for each occurrence of damage to the landlord's property caused by | |
14 | 14 | the tenant as a condition of the tenant's lease with the landlord. | |
15 | 15 | SECTION 2. Section 92.3516, Property Code, as added by this | |
16 | 16 | Act, applies only to a lease entered into or renewed on or after the | |
17 | 17 | effective date of this Act. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
