| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 504.202(e-1), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (e-1) Other than license plates issued under Subsection |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (h), license plates issued under this section may include, on |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | request: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) the emblem of the veteran's branch of service; or |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) one emblem from another license plate to which the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | person is entitled under Section 504.308, 504.309, 504.310(b), |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 504.311, 504.312, 504.313, 504.3135, 504.314, 504.315, 504.316, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 504.3161, 504.318, 504.319, 504.320, or 504.323, as added by |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Chapter 1085 (H.B. 3567), Acts of the 85th Legislature, Regular |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Session, 2017. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. Section 504.3015(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (a) A person applying for a set of license plates under this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | subchapter shall pay the registration fee required under Chapter |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 502 and the applicable special plate fee required under this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | section, except that one set of license plates shall be issued |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | without the payment of the registration fee under: |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (1) Section 504.308; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) Section 504.310(b); |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (3) Section 504.315, other than Subsections (c) and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (q) of that section; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (4) [(3)] Section 504.319. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 3. Section 504.310, Transportation Code, is amended |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Sec. 504.310. WORLD WAR II VETERANS AND CERTAIN MEDAL |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RECIPIENTS. (a) The department shall issue specialty license |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | plates for persons who served in the United States or Allied armed |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | forces during World War II. License [The license] plates issued |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | under this subsection must include the words "WWII Veteran." |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | (b) The department shall issue specialty license plates for |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | recipients of the Army of Occupation Medal. License plates issued |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | under this subsection must include the Army of Occupation Medal |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | emblem and must include the words "Army of Occupation Medal" at the |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | bottom of the plate. |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
