| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 1.005, Election Code, is amended by | |
| 10 | 10 | adding Subdivisions (4-a) and (12-a) to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (4-a) "Electoral affairs" means matters related to the | |
| 12 | 12 | organization and operation of a political party. | |
| 13 | 13 | (12-a) "Party affairs" means matters related to | |
| 14 | 14 | affiliating with a political party for the purpose of participating | |
| 15 | 15 | in party elections or electoral affairs. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 17 | 17 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 18 | 18 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 19 | 19 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
