55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the required notice of a patient's right to receive an
88 estimate of certain health care services provided by a physician.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 101.352, Occupations Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
1212 (c-1) A physician or physician group shall post a clear and
1313 conspicuous notice of a patient's right to receive an estimate of
1414 charges under Subsection (c):
1515 (1) in at least one area of the physician's or group's
1616 office where patients are commonly present; and
1717 (2) on the physician's or group's Internet website if
1818 the physician or group maintains an Internet website.
1919 SECTION 2. (a) The Health Professions Council may
2020 prescribe the form and content required for a notice under Section
2121 101.352(c-1), Occupations Code, as added by this Act.
2222 (b) Notwithstanding Section 101.352(c-1), Occupations
2323 Code, as added by this Act, a physician or physician group is not
2424 required to comply with that section until December 1, 2019.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
