| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 101.352, Occupations Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (c-1) A physician or physician group shall post a clear and | |
| 13 | 13 | conspicuous notice of a patient's right to receive an estimate of | |
| 14 | 14 | charges under Subsection (c): | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) in at least one area of the physician's or group's | |
| 16 | 16 | office where patients are commonly present; and | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) on the physician's or group's Internet website if | |
| 18 | 18 | the physician or group maintains an Internet website. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. (a) The Health Professions Council may | |
| 20 | 20 | prescribe the form and content required for a notice under Section | |
| 21 | 21 | 101.352(c-1), Occupations Code, as added by this Act. | |
| 22 | 22 | (b) Notwithstanding Section 101.352(c-1), Occupations | |
| 23 | 23 | Code, as added by this Act, a physician or physician group is not | |
| 24 | 24 | required to comply with that section until December 1, 2019. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
